Abstract

Background: Human development is one of the most important issues that lead to achieving human welfare and needs. This study addressed the impact of health outcomes on human development in Sudan during the period 2001-2021 in light of the decline in these indicators.

This study aimed to identify the role of health sector outcomes as a final product of health in improving the human development index and measuring the degree of impact of these indicators on the human development index.

Methods: The researcher used the descriptive and analytical approach (E .Views) to reach the results of the study.

Results: The study showed that there is a strong and inverse relationship between the human development index and the child mortality rate, as the correlation degree reached -0.79. It also showed that the relationship is such that: the higher the life expectancy rate, the higher the human development index; as the relationship was significant at 0.03 with a strong positive correlation degree of 0.77. The study also concluded that mortality rates have a strong negative correlation with the human development index, as the correlation degree between them reached -0.79. These indicators affect the human development index by 71%, while the remaining (29%) represent other factors affecting the human development rate that were not included in the current model.

Conclusion: The study found a significant relationship between the health sector output indicators and the human development index. The study recommended the need to pay attention to health outputs to contribute to achieving human development by diversifying sources of funding for the health sector to provide greater support to the health sector to raise health outputs, which in turn raises the human development index.
